Artist Statement/Bio
My Journey
I have made a journey of art throughout my life. As a child in Massachusetts, I painted with watercolor and colored pencil. As a young adult, I created light filled gouache works while traveling through sunny Mexico and the Southwest. I have painted genre themes based on life situations with people that I've known. While living in Vermont, I used palettes inspired by the woods and mountains. I am now fortunate to have the rocky coast of Maine and the sea for inspiration.
I work with watercolor in an opaque, non-traditional manner, and with watercolor and acrylic to produce rich color and surface texture. I always begin to construct a painting based on color relationships.
I was trained in traditional painting and have developed my own style with roots in Modernism. It has been a gratifying journey, and I look forward to continue to explore and create with paint!
